Elsipogtog Solidarity Action in Victoria

Indigenous people of Elsipogtog and their allies have been shutting down the highways to stop fracking exploration trucks from entering their territory.  Oil industry executives have been quoted in news reports saying shale gas would provide a cheap source of energy for the firm to process  bitumen coming from Alberta.  Yesterday in downtown Victoria we marched to demonstrate our solidarity with their fight to stop extreme resource extraction that is damaging our planet beyond repair.  For more information please read reclaimturtleisland.com

We gathered in front of the law courts.

This man sang an incredibly moving song.

We walked around the block singing and drumming.

We distributed information about the carbon intensive process of fracking.

We gathered near the library and listened to drummers and singers and speakers.

We took advantage of a photo op.

Please share.  Spread the word.  Together, from coast to coast to coast, we will stop tar sands expansion and return to clean, fair and democratic living.
